Housing Information

Where Do CTS Students Live?

Many CTS students live in Hyde Park and around the city of Chicago. Others come from across the state of Illinois and from throughout the Midwest region. The CTS community culture is shaped in response to the varied needs of short- and long-distance commuters. Local students contribute to the social fabric through their regular presence on campus. Longer-distance commuter students join the community most often on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, when a majority of classes are offered. Chapel and community lunch are held every Wednesday, to include as many students as possible. Events like the fall picnic and Spring Fling also gather the whole community together.

Housing for Hyde Park residents, long-distance commuters and visitors

Currently, CTS does not maintain its own residence hall. However, the seminary is committed to working closely with entering students to assist them in finding housing and to ease their transition to a new neighborhood. The admissions office maintains information on those privately owned apartments and landlords that are well-reviewed by current students. CTS also maintains an electronic bulletin board on which students can post housing reviews, requests for a roommate and general information about area housing (the e-bulletin board is accessible to all enrolled students).

The admissions office will reserve a guest room for up to three nights, free of charge, for entering students who would like to visit Hyde Park to search for an apartment during the summer before enrolling at CTS. Students who are considering a move to the neighborhood are encouraged to contact the admissions office or click here for more information.

Longer-distance commuters who travel into Chicago for 24 to 48 hours each week may arrange overnight accommodations at the University of Chicago's International House, which is just four blocks from CTS. See http://ihouse.uchicago.edu/residency/residency_short.html. Disciples Divinity House and Quaker House, both located within a couple blocks of CTS, also offer guest rooms:
